It
all begins with a bar of the finest steel and by the eye and hand of the
Master swordmaker, is gradually fashioned into a masterpiece of design and
balance. The town of Solingen Germany (known as The City of Knives) was
first mentioned in 1067 and since Mediaeval times has been renowned for
its makers of fine steel blades. Frank Schmitz Metallwaren GmbH is continuing
that tradition by producing swords/knives that are among the finest in the
world. Frank Schmitz is the only Master swordmaker working in the town of
Solingen today and it is sad to realize that modern technology has closed
some of the oldest sword factories in the world, but we are proud to say
that here at Schmitz Metallwaren our dedication to the true art form continues.
All parts of our swords from handle to guard, blade to scabbard are made
in our factory. We do not import any parts from elsewhere and assemble on
site, or we would violate the Made in Solingen requirements.
We
specialize in custom designed swords, knives, and presentation items, from
personal arms to military contracts and tenders.
